"In fact we’ve seen work and leisure swap attributes. Qualified jobs take on the values of creativity and autonomy. Desirable work has become that which allows personal fulfilment. But when you have a good quality job, you work more. As leisure time shrinks, we try to increase its intensity by projecting onto it the values once associated with work: leisure must pay off, teach us something, be renewed, have a degree of uncertainty... In a way, work and its gratifications suck the life out of leisure, and vice versa. This confusion is a curse for those who feel exploited at work."
