In March 2022 Russia controlled around 25% of Ukraine's territory, by the end of 2022 they controlled 15%.

Maybe it's 15.1% after they won control of some towns recently (more updated map above) but you have to wonder what the endgame is here. How much more effort, military resources and people killed will it take Russia just to get back to where they were in early 2022?
And what's the long-term plan? If the intent is to hold on to the Donbas, that basically just means perpetual war. Ukraine is never going to cede territory to Russia that is deemed an illegal land grab under international law.
Even if Russia succeeded in their maximalist aims of literally taking over the entire country of Ukraine, what happens then? Wouldn't Russia need to devote massive resources to ruling over tens of millions of people who hate them?
You can already predict that years from now, maybe after Putin dies, this war will be deemed a failure by Russia -- just like the Iraq War for USA but with worse consequences since Russia's position in the world is weaker. It should be possible to realize this today but the problem is really the lack of free media, lack of independent thinking, among Russia and its overseas supporters.
- they are on the path of starting a new offensive, the next 2 months will be critical.
killing the bodies of internal affairs opens a path to to a much greater******** - political victory which will fundamentally determine the outcome of the war.********
- What's a realistic and sustainable outcome for Russia though? I don't see it.yuekit
- Try asking any Putin supporter, you'll never get a coherent answer. For people outside Russia who support the war, no one seems to actually care or think aboutyuekit
- this. They're basically fighting America to the last Russian, but there's no way you can even conceivably defeat USA or NATO via the current conflict.yuekit
- removal of the current leadership of Ukraine, setting up a puppet government that will help convince the civilians that nothing happened.********
- there is no need to defeat the us, or Nato.********

- thing like that article are will multiply in the upcoming weeks trying to undermine the legitimacy of the current UA gov********
- the goal haven't changed: apply enough military and psychological pressure, so that the Ukrainian people voluntarily admit that they need Russian leadership********
- lol wtf autocomplete is an idiot
"things like this article" :)******** - They're not fighting America, that's such an assanine reframing. Not a single American troop is involved in any of this. Americans are supplying command andKhurram
- control and weaponary to their Ukranians proxies to defeat Russia dummy. The US is fighting Russia to the last Ukranian, Ukranians are even admitting it as theyKhurram
- beg the "west" for more arms. It's a pretty desperate dire situation over tehre.Khurram
- Free media? The "might" of the Ukranian army aligned with NATO and all their allies just got routed by a ragtag bunch of mercenaries,Khurram
- a pretty catastrophic setback for Ukranian forces and your media is acting like it was actually a strategic failure for the Russians. It's like you're living inKhurram
- a parallel universe with all your media pumping out incessant war propaganda.Khurram
- It'll be easy for them to hold onto Eastern Ukraine, they have massive support in that region, and in case you haven't noticed, they are pretty firmly inKhurram
- control over there with the Ukranian forces engaged in "clean up" operations murdering, purging and torutring pro-Russians elements in territories they'veKhurram
- 'You can already predict that years from now, maybe after Putin dies, this war will be deemed a failure by Russia' <— I doubt that very much.Continuity

- Russians — like their Slavic cousins, the Serbs — are patently incapable of the kind of self-reflection and humility required to make that realisation.Continuity
- Much less act on it, like making reparations, for example.Continuity
- Yves Smith on her blog has produced some incisive commentary on the war in Ukraine if you're actually interested in that perspective:Khurram

- THough I suspect you're not, as you're just a bot created by the CIA to spread State Department propaganda.Khurram
- Maybe you're right Continuity, they even still censor and repress the fact that the USSR did a deal with Hitler. I meant the leadership tacitly acknowledges ityuekit
- and scales down the war effort. It could also happen out of necessity where Russia's hand is forced as they confront other crises.yuekit
- @Khurram, like I said maybe it's 15.1% now. I'm not denying they took that town, but it is a town population 10,000 people. And that is Russia's only victory inyuekit
- the past half year. And it wasn't even done by the Russian military lolyuekit
- You can try to frame it like they're underdogs but this was supposed to be the second most powerful military on Earth. 25% to 15% control in the past year.yuekit
- I think it would be quite a challenge for them to subdue the entire country of Ukraine. The whole society has been mobilized in the war, will they justyuekit
- give up? Would Russia, which has stumbled so badly during the attempted invasion, be able to run the country?yuekit
- That deal was done after Stalin was repeatedly rebuked by the West to take the threat of Hitler seriously. It was designed to buy him time so Russia couldKhurram
- prepare for the inevitable war against Germany that was to come.Khurram
- Maybe you don't know your history, but the "west", including the US, sent an army into Russia after the October revolution, while WW1 was still ragingKhurram
- to destroy the Bolshevik government.Khurram
- They were caught between two mortal enemies. A-level history.Khurram
- What's funny is if you look at pictures taken of this meeting, Stalin looks like he's never been happier in his life as he's signing a deal with the Nazis.yuekit

- What's the excuse for invading Poland along with Hitler?yuekit
- "Just two years prior [to the Nazi-Soviet pact]... Hitler had called the Soviet Union “the greatest danger for the culture and civilization of mankind whichKhurram

- Some rewriting of history going on here lolKhurram
- You're tiring. You don't even have the most basic understanding of history. Spouting of this brainless anti-Russian propaganda.Khurram
- To create a barrier between him and the Germans before the inevitable war. Or face the Nazi war machine on the borders of Russia in 1939 - what would you do?Khurram
- I'm not saying Hitler didn't have bad intentions lol. But what was the justification for invading Poland?yuekit
- Duh... that's so hard to figure out.. i don't know why, what could possibly be the reason as they watch the gods of war aligning over the horizonKhurram
- against a hostile west that tried to destroy Russia as early as 1917 and into the 1920s - American troops on Russian soil fighting the red army.Khurram
- Did they forget to mention that in the Twitter feed you're getting all this from?Khurram
- Unprovoked invasion of Russia by "the whites". You're so simple.Khurram
- There were only a few thousand troops in Russia, and this was during WW1 so it wasn't really to destroy Russia.yuekit
- They did side with the anti-Communists during the Russian civil war but such a small number of soldiers wasn't going to make a huge difference.yuekit
- Oh no, those troops weren't there to destroy the Bolshevik government at all, it was all just a misunderstanding lolKhurram
- Your scraping the barrell love xKhurram
- Anyway, you're doing the typical Russian propaganda tactic where you bring up some unrelated incident. How does that justify invading Poland decades later?yuekit
- One of my favourite silent films ever:
https://www.youtube.…Khurram - Depicts the war between the Red Army and "the Whites" - the combined forces of US, Britain and France aligned with Tsarist forces to destroy the Bolshevik revolKhurram
- You just got schooled. But keep going please, little Ukit.Khurram
- Your bigotry and lack of knowledge is self-evident.Khurram

Fucked around.
Found out.Continuity - yep :D there are some videos of her getting treated. looks like she got shot in the knee, i wonder how long are they going to keep her on morphine********
