  My father in law never saw The Thing. He never watched scifi at all really and would watch re-runs of tv shows that people of his parents age would watch on tv.
  I think about him not seeing it a lot, I reckon he would have liked it. The characters in another situation could have been in a cowboy film and still been cool.
