The stuff Elon Musk, Matt Taibbi and Bari Weiss are posting about "The Twitter Files", if you really break down the substance of it, is a made up scandal. First of all it's easy to paint leaked info in the scariest, most negative light possible as this article explains:

Ultimately what you have here is Twitter enforcing their own publicly stated terms of service. They already indicated they might sometimes limit the reach of accounts spreading disinfo. If more of these accounts happened to be right-wing, this can only be called biased if people on the right and left spread disinfo at an identical rate.

It's also unclear how it's a scandal that in the middle of an election, Twitter was consulting both presidential campaigns in order to identify posts that might violate the rules.

None of this drama impacts the day to day experience of Twitter that much but it seems like Musk's reputation must be collapsing among Democrats and the left as he makes clear his open bias for the other side. Maybe the plan is to sell electric cars but only to Republicans?

    • Musk is just desperate for support at this point. He's going to crazy extremes to get anyone to stay/join.formed
    • Just look at his begging of Elton John to stay. EJ was (or his PR) was classy enough to not engage (hell, even Trump didn't fall for it).formed
    • Musk says he wants to make Twitter the USA version of WeChat, the app that is used for everything in China. But starts off with alienating half the userbase.yuekit
    • You can't actually build WeChat with only Joe Rogan fans, Dogecoin enthusiasts and the alt-right.yuekit
    • lol...even better, turns out the posts Musk and Taibbi were citing as examples of suppressed free speech were literally just people posting pictures of Hunteryuekit
