not sure about other hip hop artists, but Jay-Z releases a-capella versions of his albums for DJ's t remix "the hell out of" as Guru put it, I'm sure this had something to do with him being chosen as one of the remixees ( unless everyone else does it as well ).
I like the concept a lot and the album is what the Black Album should've been, so fucking boring in it's original version ..
