Jet lagged and just back from the UK for the first time in four years. How things change.
My fam's all up north but I missed a lot of old mates by deciding against a London leg to reduce ping-ponging around. A wise choice in hindsight; I made a few journeys by train and there was tomfuckery every time.
Things were definitely more expensive (energy prices WTAF), but even while perusing Peruvian asparagus in Waitrose, I could hear the distant sound of Australian supermarkets saying, hold my beer. Which is also cheaper than down under (see earlier punches post about an $18 pint in Melbourne).
However, a nostalgic greatest hits tour of the North was brilliant. Rick Stein can keep his Magpie in Whitby, The Brown Room in Filey is where the best fish and chips is at. And are there many finer old boozers than The Craven Arms in Wharfedale? Not to my mind, despite the fact I was 4 months early for the ferret racing.
'til next time...

Ill ask them about the Brown Room._me_ - Nice, my mum's in Brid so she often visits. Brown Room's old school excellent. Brought back a bottle of Filey Bay whisky as well, also worth a pop!MrT
- I’m flying back to Manchester today for the first time in 2 years. I fully expect to see drunken fights in the rain or I want my money back.Chimp
- I flew in and out of there too. Spent my last night at the Cow Hollow hotel, near Piccadilly for train-airport access. Have a good trip!MrT
