I memba my [very] German housemate (a mature student) complaining that "ALL MUSIC THESE DAYS IS SHIT" when we were in Uni, back in about '98 or so, when we finally managed to drag him out clubbing, to the gay club Rockshots! that had non-Gay nights each week and was generally fucking banging. He spent his time there that night with bits of tissue jammed deep into his ears.Turns out he was into sado-masochism, which we accidentally found out a few months before the end of the year, after which he was moving away. They were an awkward few months... .
Anyway, suffice to say that I thought his opinion was a bit... daft. There's something about people who couch their opinions in absolute terms. In my experience, it usually implies they're quite closed off to lots of things.
