Need to replace my old MacBook Pro. Need help deciding.
Mac Mini M1 w/ 1TB + 16GB is $1299
Refurb MacBook Air M1 same capacity is $1399I don’t NEED a laptop because I use my iPad Pro consistently for travel and I prefer it for working in a cafe or on the couch or whatever. So I was always planning on saving money with a Mac Mini. But this is crazy, right? Only $100 more to get a screen and portability?
Am I missing something? I guess refurbs are a better deal than I thought...
- mac mini is two years without updates so not a good time to buy new. any refurb deals on those?kingsteven
- Good point. No mini refurbs today but the stock changes frequently********
- But it’s unlikely to find a refurb mini that is jacked up with 1TB and 16GB ram. People usually buy minis to be cheap********
- Btw I tend to keep a Mac for 7 years or so ... so the $100 price difference ammortizes to like $1 extra per month********
- If you hold that long, buy new + warranty/care********
- My current MBP was an official Apple Refurb and it is 7 years old. Still works, just a little too slow feeling********
- Then why not upgrade again? More RAM?
SSD? MBP 2015 still fast unless you do video/3D******** - Its super sluggish with Lightroom which is primarily what I use it for********
- Ah then pretty sure it's Lightroom's fault
Straight to FUCK ADOBE thread...******** - But back to topic, sorry, for Lightroom your options won't do, it will still be sluggish.
But have the Air, same config and portability sounds good.******** - It’s all sluggish, even just Finder after restart! I even erased the HD and reinstalled MacOS. LR is extra bad though********
- Oh no, check your SSD mate, must be the end of life so BACKUP your stuff pronto!********
