When King George died in 1952 people were in the streets shouting "the king is dead!". My auntie was walking from school and thought they were shouting "Jean is dead" (her older sister) and cried the whole way home... Every now and again I remember this story and think about how Jean sounds nothing like 'king' and how her dad's name was George and "George is dead!"... would have made a better story all round.
