Minecraft completely rejecting NFTs and what they represent is a big deal. Minecraft is the most successful video game and virtual world in history, and WAS a big target for NFT racketeering.

Minecraft has decided NFTs have no place in its future. Huge.

    • @micro In game economies are one thing... I personally hate them but devs leave a path for gamers who don't want to buy skins or perks with random loot dropsjonny_quest_lives
    • so you can play through a game without having to purchase anything. Expecting devs/publishers to suddenly embrace blockchain which is a shitty solution at bestjonny_quest_lives
    • to carry these in game cosmetic/perks/weapo... into other games in perpetuity is dumb. All publishers would have to embrace a common rule set.jonny_quest_lives
    • not to mention the legal framework all these COMPETING publishers would have to resolve/agree to that these InGame NFT's wouldn't bonk or adversely affect theirjonny_quest_lives
    • games. Gamers in general have been pushing against these half assed games that are designed with Pay to Play features for the past 5 yearsjonny_quest_lives
    • It's no surprise Elden Ring shot up the charts as the best selling Game of 2022. The Player base has been hungry for a well written complete release for yearsjonny_quest_lives
    • Most game Devs "i.e.- The Doers" realize it's a nonsensical starter to suddenly code NFT's into their IP. There are however C-Suite Execs at these Publishersjonny_quest_lives
    • Looking at u Ubisoft/Square Enix that want to goose their stock for the quarter and will make bold proclamations about embracing the crypto spacejonny_quest_lives
