People post shit to my neighborhood forum like

“hi everyone, we’re looking to rent a 2 bedroom (or 3!) in the neighborhood preferably with a little outdoor space. Our budget is around $7000 per month, thanks!”

    Good grief

    • Sometimes I suspect these posts are homeowners or landlords trying to artificially inflate the market

    • yeah they should be offering at least $13k for 3 bed, no wonder they are desperately posting on a neighbourhood forum.shapesalad
    • I know of two places for rent on my street, one is asking $13k and I talked to the other guy and he said $15k. This is per month rent, in gentrified Brooklyn.

    • Those places are each 4 bedrooms, one is 2 floors the other is 3 floors. So they’re big spaces. But still... over $150k per year in rent in Brooklyn!! Insane.

    • Do you own? If so, sounds like you won a small lottery.formed
    • I do not own. Most of neighbors are old owners. They’ve made more wealth just from buying one house in the right ‘hood than their entire lifetime salary

    • They made no money whatsoever to speak of, actually, not if they live there. Probably struggling with the rising taxesmonospaced
    • Common misconception is that the equity a house gains is deposited into a bank.monospaced
    • Yes I understand. It’s also common to say “they’ve made” to refer to net worth
