Becoming a Supreme Court Justice is probably peak career for most people in law. For any lawyer, it’s a dream come true. Your writings and opinions will be read and discussed for generations. Your biography will become a small part of US history. Amazing.
But it must lose a tiny bit of luster for the ones who were nominated and confirmed by a president who’s name will go down in history as “generally agreed upon to be one of the worst presidents in the history of the country.” That will also be a part of their legacy and bios.
