The weird thing is Elon Musk is willing to pay $44 billion for Twitter, suggesting this is something he has thought about very seriously. But when you listen to his ideas for improving the site it's basically the same shit anyone would come up with, some of which are not even good ideas.
For instance he claims he's not going to moderate anything unless it explicitly breaks the law. Sounds nice in principle, in practice this means you will allow Holocaust denial, pedophiles can openly discuss with other pedos, everyone will have freedom to dox people they don't like, mobs are free to shout abuse at minority groups, etc. Given that Twitter is struggling to make money, I'm sure major brands are going to love their ads coming up alongside the new totally unmoderated content -- YouTube already dealt with this exact issue.
Of course Apple and Google can easily just say, we refuse to carry Twitter until you comply with certain standards...just as they already did with Gab and other apps. The European Union can also potentially force Twitter's hand on this given that US free speech, which allows all the things above, is not the same as that of European countries.
Ultimately everyone has their own version of what "real free speech" is. Based on the kind of stuff Elon is posting these days, free speech has to do mainly with making sure people like Joe Rogan and Tim Pool are not oppressed, but this has got to be the dumbest reason possible to spend $44 billion.

- Yeah 90% of Twitters revenue comes from adsyuekit
- Holocaust denial very much against the law in most of Europe, similarly with pedophilia there is international law ratified by every UN member other than the USkingsteven
- which covers the discussion of acts and creation of porn. i'd imagine Dorsey etc. knew he can't do a (meaningful) thing to the platform without destroying itkingsteven
- In spite of what everyone seem to think Twitter is actually a pretty free platform, you can find both Nazis (Richard Spencer has account with 70k followers) andyuekit
- hardcore porn. Twitter really does seem to ban people for their actions and not their beliefs.yuekit
- He thinks he can improve the value, then take it public again. That’s all********
