My uncle lost his wife few years ago due to cancer. They had a kid together that is now about 6. It was of course hard for everybody in our family and especially for him to lose the love of his life.
But he should’ve appreciated that he still had their daughter and to be there fore her.
Instead he became an alcoholic. I can’t believe it. He just totally let himself go.
My mom already had enough difficulties in her life and looked after everybody and now she also is doing her best to take care of the girl as much as she can.
I find it absolutely shameful and disrespectful that somebody would turn to alcohol when you have a kid to take care of.
And now he’s being threatened that they may take the kid away from him. It’s so sad that the little girl will also lose her dad after losing her mom.
- Maybe go see him and get him help?shapesalad
- That’s what we’re doing all the time in the past months and year.NBQ00

- Poor kid. :( And I feel for him too. I mean that’s rock fucking bottom. Nobody asks for that.mort_
- Everyone handles mourning and Depression differently. It’s sad there’s a daughter involved. Hopefully your uncle can pull through.BH26
- I don't think anyone really chooses to become an addict. It's depression/mental illness. Hope he gets it together.Hayzilla

https://www.youtube.…ok_not_ok - Al-Anon is a resource for family members / friends of alcoholics. Might be worth a look.
