The M1 chip in the iMac is the same as in iPad Pro’s. So essentially an iPad Pro would be faster at rendering than a Intel Xeon iMac Pro.
- Not so fast. You also need a lot of RAM to hold the 3D scenes and other stuff. Sure, they have the same CPU/GPUs but the architecture is quite different...********
- < But very impressive results indeed!********
- The imac M1 is very impressive as that machine has def only 16GB of RAM and under $2K & other 2 machines have at least 32GB and cost double at least :))********
- I’m pretty sure the 16GB of ram I got in my iPad Pro is enough for this scene. The iMac M1 in that video probably has 16GB Ram. Thermals it’s another thing.NBQ00
- The iPad Pro would probably get hot quickly rendering such stuff.NBQ00
- I did some Blender tests with the imac M1 and there's no sounds or heat coming from it. Fans at 2500/7000 too
Blender loads instantly too******** - The architecture of the processor and memory is identical no?monospaced
- Yes identical except thermalsNBQ00
- Yeah. That’s what I figured. 100% identical chips and 100% identical M1 architecture for the silicon and memory. Literally identical in EVERY SINGLE WAYmonospaced
- Except form factor, which is the thermal package. But yeah the iPad and the iMac have the same performance before thermal throttling if any.monospaced
- I thought Macs are kinda shit at 3D?inteliboy
- You’re probably thinking of Intel macs. Apple dropped Intel and now makes their own silicon. They still aren’t that great but they’re better than before.monospaced
- "They still aren't that great"... huh? I think they're pretty great.NBQ00
- If you put one up against a decent pc with a good video card it gets embarrassingly smoked, still. But they are still good as I clearly said. Don’t act confusedmonospaced
- WTF are you even talking about? IT'S NOT the same! there's no "chip" there's SoC!
Do you even know tech or just babble around?!******** - *yawn, of course it's identical. Chip or SoC, it's just a reference to the M1 which is identical in both. The fact you can't get past this is beyond me.monospaced
- BTW, there's not much to get here, so don't get so excited, and please stop mansplaining what's been obvious for years nowmonospaced
- The M1 in the iPad is identical in every conceivable way to the M1 in the mini and MacBook, architecture and all. If you disagree you're the ignorant one.monospaced
- The only difference is form factor (aka, thermal solutions). If you want to focus on the pointless word I choose, that's because you're a condescending cunt.monospaced
- Thing is, you seem more intent on correcting me than admitting you're actually fucking wrong yourself. Makes it look like you're just babble, biatch.monospaced
- Not so fast. You also need a lot of RAM to hold the 3D scenes and other stuff. Sure, they have the same CPU/GPUs but the architecture is quite different...
