  I just learned about this and I was just thinking that the protests are quickly turning into some stupid sentimentalism.

  

  I think further sanctions that will push any Russian citizen into misery will eventually backfire.
  West doesn't have a balanced approach in this type of reactions.

  I've witnessed several times how European threats towards Turkey that ended up hurting simple citizens played into the hand of Erdogan and pushed politically centered people towards nationalist and conservative ends.
