Video from Dec. 2016 in which John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and Amy Klobuchar tell a Ukrainian military unit that it's time to go on the "offense" against Russia. "It is time for them to pay a heavier price," declares Graham. This is what they wanted!

    • And that started 5 years of a Ukrainian offense against Russia causing the senseless suffering of millions of innocent Russians ... oh wait.monospaced
    • ^ are you following at all mono? thousands of ukranian separatists (russian identifying ukranians) have been killed. hence putins justification for invasion.kingsteven
    • As much as I dislike McCain, Graham etc none of this justifies Russia invading Ukraine. Remember the armed separatist movement was something Russiayuekit
    • helped create and encourage themselves, they didn't want peace. And Putin's true intent clearly goes beyond that.yuekit
    • it's Putin's justification, doesn't mean I agree. just pointing out that what they're talking about here is killing Ukrainian separatistskingsteven
    • as much as Russia funded one side, this should be seen as an absolute failure in international diplomacykingsteven
    • The UN walkout ealier this week was shocking behaviour. Schoolyard stuff.
      ********
    • Russia had just annexed part of their country, after trying to kill one of their presidents with poison and was now funding a separatist insurgency.yuekit
    • And it's supposed to be damning that they wanted to attack the insurgents? How do you think Russia would deal with separatists like in Chechnya?yuekit
    • not just the inevitability of 'putin invading and russia being cut off from the west due to sanctions' - talked about for a decade. the unknown was the scale ofkingsteven
    • invasion - as putin said in the speech we dissected in an attempt to reassure russians 'the sanctions are inevitable'. he knew that the scale of invasionkingsteven
    • didn't matter because the outcome had been determined. the only variables for a decade were how long putin would tolerate war in donbas and the scale of responskingsteven
    • there's an idea now that he's gone in too hard and sealed his fate, and a whiff of 'i told you so' in the air but putin still very much decides what's next...kingsteven
    • how bad does it have to get to have considered in hindsight recognising the DPR and buying them out would have been a better idea?kingsteven
