New idea:
Student might spend $60k+ for a 3 year Universtiy degree.
Would it not be better to give $60k to a company you really want to work with, have them hire and train you and pay you $30k a year for the first 2 years.
Student gets their money back + invaluable work experience and insights.
Company has a no financial risk trainee that is keen to work with them and learn the job. They can also put the money in treasury and make return on it over the 2 years.
After the 2 years, it's highly probable that the student would stay on, both parties happy. If not, the student has some solid work exp on their resume.
- All it needs is a market place app to connect companies to trainees with an escrow system between it. Ideal for smart contract crypto.shapesalad
- You mean, like a government-backed apprenticeship?Nairn
- I guess.. except gov just mess things up.shapesalad
- i know a lot of tradesmen that started out on apprenticeships that now earn more than most graphic designers and would disagreekingsteven
- also, i work in a university doing professional training and its mostly workplace learning. it's the way it's done in most industries (just not so much arts)kingsteven
- and the company you work for pays for the qualificationkingsteven
- In this scenario the “student” doesn’t make anything back because $30k is below minimum wage and they’d be in debt over $60k after 2 years. Fucked.monospaced
- You’re basically describing an internship where you pay $30k and still have to cover living costs. Ugh.monospaced
