I now start with whatever the first five-letter word that doesn't have duplicate letters comes to mind. If nothing comes, I try and think back to the last indirect guess I had from the previous game.
I also start each day's game after 11pm sometime, to put a bit of pressure on (read: actually, I'm just disorganised).
I'm not at all bothered about getting the best score or run - I've just been wanting to make it harder. Great timing with the NYT purchase actually making the fucking thing harder anyway... .
