Oh you can delete item one from the above. It was my slow broadband causing the issue it turns out. Never thought to check.
So it turns out the 144mb download that I am experiencing on my other laptop and phone is maxed at 6mb on this fucking M1. It's a known issue... FFS- Maybe all the other items are user error********
