Details of things that weren't happening last week on my old 2013 macbook ...
1. My VPN to the office server is now so slow it is unusable.
2. Adobe Illustrator is slower than I have EVER seen. 1 nudge left of a circle takes 8secs to process! Seriously.
3. Apple Mail periodically doesn’t loading emails.
4. Finder has crashed 2 times copying files.
5. Document/Image icons in finder used to be little previews. Now only generic icons.
6. My Steam Games don’t work
7. The sound output toggle is now hidden in a little settings menu. Which I use lots a day to switch from playing my music on the house sonos to Zooms I need just on my Mac.
8. Playing music through my Sonos is now glitchy.
9. “iTunes” is ramming Apple Music down my throat with stuff I can’t remove.And lots of other little things I always wanted to see changed not being changed. I like...

; )ideaist - For 7. go to system preferences. Sound. Output. "Show Sound in menu bar" set to always.
I also suggest https://rogueamoeba.… for more control.ideaist - I feel the remainder of the issues are related to your VPN as @shapesalad said. Can you disable just to see if everything resolved?!
