What is the best extinction event and why is it the P–Tr?
- Dunno, my faves would be The Great Oxidation Event and the Snowball Earth event during the Cryogenian period.Nairn
- The former gave us.. well, us, and I'm always amazed that the Earth somehow rebounded from turning into a giant snowball.Nairn
- The snowball one is wild, the image of it is the most impressive. P-Tr has the most body count though and it gave us dinosaurs.palimpsest
- You guys are so mainstream.
Genesis 6:9Gnash - Before extinction events were cool.palimpsest
- @Nairn how about the opposite of that:
Oxygen leaves the atmosphere.******** - ^on the Moon there's oxygen in the upper surface enough for 8B people for 100k years********
- Sted, oxyen isn't helium :)
Grafician - you've been on hn today? You missed the comment about re-use of oxygen? Lot more than 100k years :)Nairn - The best is the current one, we're actually living thru it********
- @Nairn every time you inhale, oxygen leaves the atmosphere :D okok but what IF.********
- @Nairn huh?
https://www.msn.com/…******** - Oxygen's an element, after we breathe it we can scrub it or feed it to plants or whatever and we turn CO2 back into oxygen. = More usage. Infinite, practically.Nairn
- Actually plants turn CO2 into oxygen, we don't
this is kinda the point of this fucking climate change thing we can't really breathe money******** - and the thing with the oxygen on the moon the point was there's enough rocks to extract oxygen from for basically 100k years
this ofc in a closed space******** - and yes ofc we can't ship 8B people to the Moon ever********
- Hmm, good point, I'm not personally a NASA-developed CO2 Scrubbing Unit Either. Fuck! My conscious is dephasing.
So long Crouwel WeldNairn
