    There's a massive climate conference going on with the world's leaders and hundreds of related stories.

    Meanwhile, ProPublica dropped a huge research story about areas of high pollution in the USA that are killing thousands of people.

    But the top story on Google News today? An NFL football player I never heard of has got in a DUI and killed one person. Would not be news if it happened to a regular person, and does not matter in the grand scheme.

    Second top story? "Critics blast rally for Viriginia candidate." Literally a story about something with no consequence. Does not even qualify as news.

    What hope do we have of surviving as a species? I'd say little to none.
