  One healthy adult oyster can filter as much as 50 gallons of water per day! These tanks are filled with water from the Severn River in Annapolis, MD. The left tank left shows what 20 mature oysters can do to clean the water in only 5 hours. Oysters help to create healthy ecosystems by filtering excess nutrients and sediment from water.
