I’m a little concerned that the Delta wave is more geographical than vaxx based. The talking heads tell it like everyone in the south is anti vaxxer and that’s why they’re dying. But according to the current numbers on NYT: Florida is 52% fully vaxxed. Cases and deaths in Florida are among the highest in the country.

But then you look at Illinois, Michigan, South Dakota who have about the same percentage fully vaxxed but their cases and deaths are all much lower, relatively.

    What gives?

    • I wonder if it’s things like Florida has a lot of people coming and going? I personally know of dozens of people who have been to Miami etchardhat
    • There will definitely be metrics we aren’t seeing/thinking of - it’s not *all* about vaccinations.hardhat
    • Population density probably.monospaced
    • Everyone, more or less, that I have come across in Chicago are masked. In stores, transport, walking etc. That has to have something to do with it.wordssssss
    • It might! We tend to see city folk in high density areas as following guidelines on masks, sanitizer, vaxx whereas rural people don’t need to as much.

    • So if Floridian cities are behaving more like Illinois rural areas, that could account for some of the discrepancy.
