i keep getting the feeling that the people who are outraged by those who won't wear masks and the people who are outraged by those who will wear masks are both groups financially unaffected by the pandemic, outside of perhaps not being able to evict their tenants.

like as long as no one is bitching about the economy, and things are still open, then the government won't care who is stressed or who is dying. and the people who care about masks seem to mainly do so for ideas of "normalcy," as if this country wasn't so beyond fucked before this all hit.

if anything, it feels like another step to which the individualism of the USA has carved out a significant portion of the country from their basic humanist values / openness to communication. so much of all of this exists due to our corrupt institutions seeping poison into our social discourse for generations, and now all sides can't really escape it. something is bound to set it off soon, and my money is on economic / market collapse.

    • Masks and comprehensive vaccinations will help get us closer to normalcy faster, which results in more business and improved economy, faster.monospaced
    • yes i understand that but what you refer to is obviously an insufficient environment for the state of our society, because its mechanisms created this.colin_s
    • You created this USA, you tolerate and consume the lies the media pumps out 24hrs a day, you aren’t able to distinguish truth from fiction, you want it all...Morning_star
    • ...right now, to your door, you are as much an architect of your countries demise as those you point the finger at. Do something about it.Morning_star
    • You implied the economy and covid crisis are independent. They aren’t.monospaced
