^ Another 3 videos running Maya, Zbrush and Blender on the latest M1 Macs

Idk what dopepope's machine is running Zbrush to sculpt those amazing 3D models of his, but the M1 16GB looks like it can handle a pretty big load on only 8 cores and with no optimisation for its GPU cores so far.

Like the guy in the second videos says "but can you imagine a 32 core version of the M1, that would be an amazing workstation"

Not expecting new processors from Apple for at least a cycle, so that's next year Autumn. Guessing they will still use the M1 and just tweak the other specs for the new iMacs and MBPro 16"

    • Game changer? I always thought if you do 3D = PC, no question.inteliboy
    • I mean if your interested in learning 3D tools this is exciting but I can't see it shaking up many 3D workflows yet as Apple has just ignored the High Endjonny_quest_lives
    • 3D tools and End Users for too long.jonny_quest_lives
    • of course if you are making $25 billion in revenue on Airpods alone per year you can afford to ignore the 3D market...jonny_quest_lives

    • Most designers use Cinema 4D for a lot of stuff on Macs and from what I can see you can also use Maya, Blender & Zbrush with no issues, so what's up?grafician
    • Archviz (my industry) is all PC. 3DSMax does not run on a Mac.formed
    • I don't get the first one. First, those are all instances of one model, not like a 'real' scene, second, he never rendered the scene. Nothing to see there.formed
    • I love how the M1 is stirring up the industry, but by the time there is a 32 core version the competition will have caught up/surpassed, at least for 3D.formed
    • It really only matters what works today and so far, the M1 isn't addressing the high-end markets.formed
    • @formed that's cool
you can check out the other video bellow, the animation guy talking about rendering times reduction from 26 mins to 58 secs

    • < and you can see in the Blender video an interior scene rendering and the guy uses the 8GB M1 modelgrafician
    • but he's comparing it to an i5 chip. They are up to i9 now. I'll need to see a true benchmark comparison, not just a video of someone on YouTube.formed
    • I am not questioning that it's an amazing chip, though, just that it's not a pro-beater (yet).formed
    • The guy said they were using 32 cores vs. 8 cores for the M1 so is this running THAT fast? Optimisation counts it seems.grafician
    • Makes you think why we pay thousands for hardware while the software fuckers never optimise anything!grafician
