Flights from Montevideo to Miami reopened frequency 2 weeks ago after 18 months. Thousands of travelers picked up flights from old and new tickets.
Yesterday, for the first time, 36 infections of Delta variant were detected in Uruguay, 100% related with people who traveled. Also a couple Beta variant infections from merchant ships from South Africa.
I wonder how fucking unavoidable were those 20 / 30 flights. Pretty sure +90% is people going shopping and taking a few weeks off Uruguayan winter. It blows my mind. Nada. Welcome Delta variant of COVID to Uruguay. Nice tan, btw, assholes.
