Although I practiced boxing, I’m not a huge boxing fanz But my dad is, and my grandpa was. Grandpa used to say Sugar Ray Robinson was the best of the best. My dad says Ali was the best. I grew up watching Tyson.
In the words of my dad, from a call we had earlier, today’s fight event is “the beginning of the end” of professional boxing as a noble, historic, serious sport.
One preliminary pro fight surrounded by a bunch of amateur millionaires... clowns. I feel a bit sad. I wonder what would grandpa have to say. Probably some insults in italian followed by a punch on the table.
