Is overall "air traffic" still relatively quiet in your neighborhood and or location since the pandemic all but shut down the airline industry? I'm now lucky to see and or hear a couple jets a day fly over my home, I used to see and or hear the jet planes about every two minutes regularly and now nothing.

    • Yep I'm very close to an airport and it's much quieter. The main airline BMI was bought and pillaged by Virgin and the national routes are smaller prop planeskingsteven
    • It's now serving more as a private test centre for folks flying out internationally (from other airports)kingsteven
    • I never lived that close to a flight path to notice. Sounds shitty.monospaced
    • It's still fairly quiet here in Orange County, CA. I'm in a helicopter flight path, though and it hasn't changedlemmy_k
    • lived 4 miles away in the flight path for the same airport previously and it was bad, here its barely audible...kingsteven
    • Its on the shore and surrounded by parks and forested areas so i just walk around the runway with the dog every day looking at flight radar and qbnkingsteven
    • over at a friend's turdsday by our international airport. it was quite loud often. but that's a high traffic area.kaiyohtee
    • The skies over LDN have been *much* quieter over the past year or so. I'm now annoyed when I hear the first 6am overflights, whereas beforeNairn
    • that was like an early fucking alarm clockNairn
    • (I'm nowhere near an airport, but I live on Airstrip One)Nairn
    • Hah, Its it a bit nuts that the air traffic from London City is so loud up there when it takes as long as Heathrow or Stansted to get to on public transportkingsteven
    • The flightpath we're under here in Norf Lahndan is for Heathrow, I think - it's more the holding pattern path, rather than direct to runway. Still noisy.Nairn
    • it used to be departures from city would curve round before going north, that's what i always attributed the shouty ones too anyway, may be wrongkingsteven
