the french are worried about losing their culture, so they are very defensive about protecting it.
the separatist movement is basically the french looking to save the language.... kinda silly though, as the canadian government seems to consistently bend over backwards for them, making crazy laws to appease them, and yet they still want to separate.
I have heard even the french from France even say that Quebec is far too french.
