I think 2021 has been a rather extraordinary glimpse into conscious belief and human society.
Between the politics / economics of the world and then the pandemic, all the available media is providing for a fascinating view of how people believe what they do, in terms of prioritizing their actions and words in response to events and conditions.
The fact that these earth-shattering events happen during times of political change are really lifting back the veil on how power operates, and I think a lot of the neo-tribalist behavior we're seeing is kind fo a subconscious collective response to being both concerned by power but unaware of how to react.
And so at a base level, there's just a lot of belief floating around these days. Helps the internet exists, where every comment is at least a string of an opinion, and even on forums like this (which have remarkably overlapping demographics, but wildly divergent opinions), we see evidence of this every day.
I dunno, at a macro level, even though this is entirely harmful and destructive currently, the state of humanity has never been more interesting to observe.
- Strangely, I don't see it like that at all. I have observed a mostly selfish ignorant mass act childishly during a time of intense importance. Never have I...StoicLevels
- Been more disgusted with humanity. I praise the few intelligent people that truly have civilizations best interest at heart.StoicLevels
