I'd've preferred to post some video in the stand up thread, but I can't find any good, translated ones.
Anyway, currently going through 'Comedians of the World' on Netflix with an episode every couple of days - last night it was Donel Jack'sman and it was the most I've laughed at the TV in a long time.
Not sure what's happened to stand-up, but a lot of it seems to be insipid, unfunny, self-congratulatory wank these days, but this guy pressed my buttons.
- Will check it out, thanks. Stewart Lee is also a great antidote to the usual drivel.mort_
- I've pretty much saturated my occasional supermarket buddy, Stewart Lee, these last couple of years :)Nairn
- Ha, same. Seeing him live might be the hardest I’ve laughed. So did you say hello to him while choosing fabric conditioner?mort_
- No, god no! i just eyeball him from askance. he gets fatter every time i see him, and now he looks like Santa Claus, hahaNairn
- Lol. Don’t think I’d approach him either.mort_
- Do you really go shopping with Stew? I've been watching his older stuff hahaIanbolton
- I've seen him a few times at my sainsbury's. To say that I go shopping with him would be a bit of a stretch... . But, fuckit, yeah. We're best buds.Nairn
- He waits for me by the fresh cut flowers, then we wend our seperate ways, coyly acknowledging each other 'til we hit the tills and see who won. He always does.Nairn
- It's the manpads. They cost a fortune.Nairn
- Poor santa.Nairn
- @Nairn, I used to shop at that Sainsbury's too, saw him a couple of times.. also had one of his kids run into the back of my leg on a scooter in n16 years ago !dee-dubs
