A dual boot with MacOS & iPadOS on the new iPad Pro‘s would be a dream. For most of the time you could be in iPadOS but when you really need to do more pro stuff or do stuff on bigger external screen you could boot into MacOS.

I‘m not as optimistic as this guy that it will ever happen knowing how stubborn Apple is.

    • in the last 20-30 years i expect nothing logical from apple.renderedred
    • i worked with macs in the 80's since then it all went down. not worth the effort and money.renderedred
    • All went down? The current Macs (MBP‘s, iMac Pro‘s, Mac Pro‘s and iPad Pro‘s) are the most powerful of all time.NBQ00
    • And MacOS is the best it has ever been.NBQ00
    • iPad apps run natively on macOS tho.monospaced
    • That‘s not what I need, mono.NBQ00
    • @NBQ i build my own PC every few years, great performance, workhorses for half the money.renderedred
    • and i don't have to deal with hyped up, over-designed macboy hipster bullshit. :Prenderedred
    • something goes wrong i need to replace a part, no prob, i don't apple to take care of it for lots of money...renderedred
    • * i don't NEEDrenderedred
    • Then I disagree with you and it's also off topic :)NBQ00
    • Why sell one iPad that can do it all when they can make you buy an iPad and laptop?shapesalad
    • I think Apples bet is that iOS is the future, both architecturally (much more tight os) and the UX paradigm (touch basically). So dual boot will never happen...inv
    • Imagine a 32 inch desktopPad that runs ipad apps and iphone apps windowed + has its own UX patterns. Seems to me like a probable end goal.inv
    • I don't see it coming, inv. Because for Pro stuff you need detailed UI. Look at all the small UI elements in AE for example. No need for them to push ipados...NBQ00
    • ...that far if MacOS can already do it. But maybe in future they could implement even more interplay between the two OS's. A dual boot to start would be nice.NBQ00
    • This has been the issue since Day 1. Microsoft smartly went to full Windows and never looked back, Apple doesn't need to provide that level of user support orformed
    • or functionality due to the endless line of fanboys lapping it all up. As noted, why put it all in an iPro when you can get someone to buy a laptop too?formed
    • Glad I own Apple stock and nothing else from them! :-Dformed
    • formed, the MS touch experience is terrible on their tablets. IPadOS makes total sense and is beautiful. It‘s not meant to replace a full desktop but for most..NBQ00
    • ..people it does. Even for me. Except pro work stuff. That‘s why a dual boot would be great.NBQ00
    • Windows for ARM is still a pile of shit. So, despite their "smart" choice, it's not quite ready for the future.monospaced
    • Imagine what apple could do with iOS if they did not have to spend all that time on macOS. Mark my words, iOS is the future!inv
    • Should say iOS and its many faces.inv
    • iOS is the future. 90% of the time but like I said not for pro work. Doesn't make sense to run complex apps like AE, Maya, Houdini, Cinema4D on iOS.NBQ00
    • For a lot of designers iPadOS is already great. They can design stuff in Illustrator/ ProCreate and if necessary transfer to MacOS for further refinement.NBQ00
    • needs must, if it can run logic and fcp and it's faster than my hackintosh, im buying it. procreate runs perfectly on my 4 y/o iPadkingsteven
