"I said death rate, not number of cases!" - pr2, when he reads the above.

Sure, but death rates are a bit of a murky metric as there are peripheral national and social reasons for that to not reflect the spread and effect of the virus.

    Nonetheless:

    • ah ok, so you only pay attention to data that supports your beliefs? but this is just "murky"? yeah... you hypocrite.pr2
    • Look at the graph. Does Sweden have the same death rate as cousin countires around it with stronger lockdown measures? No.Nairn
    • son, don't make simplistic arguments. here you your 10 year average of sweden's deaths: https://www.statista…pr2
    • here ispr2
    • vast majority of those extra deaths came from old people homes and so indeed if Swedes wanted to keep their overall mortality down, they should...pr2
    • ...have made their old people homes more stringent BUT don't tell me that they should have wrecked lives of millions of people to avoid those extra deaths.pr2
    • The Swedish health minister admitted he’d probably fucked up. He didn’t double speak it, just said it matter of fact.PhanLo
    • They also just let old people die in the hospitals or homesPhanLo
    • Your link there shows an increase of 7,267 deaths in 2020 over the yearly average since 2011. What's your point?Nairn
    • Also, 2019 was an unusual year, having over two thousand less deaths than the average of the preceding eight years, heightening the trend.Nairn
    • *signal, not trend, sorry.Nairn
    • Naim, if a 10k increase (in population of over 10 mil) is worthwhile for you to shut down a country, then nothing i ever say will convince you.pr2
    • That's not your point that I'm contesting.Nairn
    • I'm contesting your inate assumptions (for that's what they appear to be) which underlie your over-all thinking.Nairn
    • i'm assuming nothing - just looking at data.pr2
    • UK had strict lockdown, and? Germany was really good about it and it didn't feer much better than Sweden. Your point?pr2
    • 330/10=33
      33x10.000=330.000
      Beeswax
    • As per WHO, lockdowns are there only to protect the health system, NOT to stop the spread. And yet somehow it mutated into just that in people's heads.pr2
    • Sure, which is why the UK curve in the graph <here started higher because earlier on it had a higher incidence due to poorer lockdown conditions.Nairn
    • ..as too Sweden.Nairn
    • I'm not actually against you, but on the whole lockdown thing, you flat-out state shit that isn't entirely trufthful.Nairn
    • ech't "I'm not actually against you on the whole lockdown thing, but you flat-out.." editard.Nairn
    • all of this is about whether to wear a mask or not? fucking lol. just stfu and put one on until this blows over. the countries that did are better off for it.scarabin

    • you gentlemen have to get out more more and see the serious mental damage the fear does to the grownups, the youth and the kids.pr2
    • "I" seriously feel worse for the VAST numbers of population who's going insane than the tiny, tiny minority who had the bad end of the stick.pr2
    • there is a list of 500,000 Americans who have died from covid. this is fact. this is science as you say. where is your list of people that have gone insane?_niko
    • Ah Niko c'mon man, it's actually 555K people who have died in the US. Only 100K off the total killed in the US during the Spanish Flu. Which was deadlierPhanLo
    • come on Niko, there is research everywhere nowdays. Just google the stats. There was 100% jump in clinical mental cases in just 1 year.pr2
    • You haven't seen someone "loosing it" yet? Am i that privileged to have seen a few of those cases already?pr2
    • Only a true shitbag would bring up how sad people are as a good reason to let people die. A true lowlife piece of human scum. All to fit an anti mask narrative.monospaced
    • I don’t give a fuck about how inconvenienced this has made you Karen. Don’t be a fucking cunt.monospaced
    • who was the asshole again? after the conversation turns into acid it's hard to figure out
      ********

    • Haven't read the whole thing, the english are fat and stupid with partyday beforeevere announced lockdown, the swedes used an "alternative" and inhumane strat..ArchitectofFate
    • Just to add fuel to the fire, Madrid has had no real lockdown since last March and has no higher death rate than Paris or London.Chimp
