  i feel the blog thread has detracted from overall content here

  not that what is posted here is bad, but often the opposite: i think a lot of the posts in 'blog' merit their own threads, as the replies can stack up pretty substantially while being limited in their length. it's inherently antithetical to discourse at a certain point, so when you start a conversation topic as a sub-post, it's never really going to be a conversation.
