"The final show is 80 minutes and includes up to 44 layers of video. The mini would play smoothly up to about 36 layers in Final Cut Pro using Best Performance [...] The iMac handled all 44 layers well."

    • what's the price comparison?_niko
    • Is the conclusion that the M1 isn't as fast as advertised?utopian
    • @utopian, no, it's that it performs very well but not as good at Final Cut and Resolve as an iMac that costs 10X more.monospaced
    • worse case scenario averages half the speed but costs 10x less? it's a bargain really and a huge leap forward_niko
    • I’m ok with thisGnash
    • In more normal tests it can match or beat most stock macs. 96gb maxed out iMac costing $8000 isn’t fair against a $700 machine without a fan.monospaced
    • I’m a fanGnash
    • Can't wait for the 2021 27" iMac with M1.
My palms are itching for it.

    • I'd be interested to see what the same M1 chip able to address 96Gb of RAM would be able to achieve.
I imagine it'd shit on its predecessor.

    • Performance like this without the heat and most importantly the battery life is a game-changer. Most with laptops won't do this kind of work anyway.evilpeacock
