One of the funniest aspects of the Trump era IMO is all these people who clearly did support Trump but would never admit it.
People who would start by saying "I'm not a Trump supporter but.." or "I hate Trump but..." *proceeds to repeat all of Trump's talking points and conspiracy theories and basically agree with him on everything.
This was such a common phenomenon that there was an entire genre of media commentary built around it. People like Tim Pool or Dave Rubin who insisted they were liberals or left-wingers while repeating every single conservative talking point in existence (I think both eventually admitted they were Trump supporters).
It even extended to some people on the left...Glenn Greenwald, someone I previously respected comes to mind...who clearly aligned themselves with the Trump movement. Although I think they might now see this was a losing game.
You could also say it was reflected in the election results where Trump outperformed his polls by 2-3 points in some states.
I don't think there has been another political movement where so many people were embarrassed or in self-denial about their beliefs. Aside from the comedic aspect of this all I can say is good...you should be ashamed.
- Glenn is a messy bitch but is fully aware of how the game is played. If you think he supports Trump then you're cracked. His argument is against the system...face_melter
- ...where any criticism of Biden and the system is seen as sUPpORtinG tRUmp. Pool and Rubin are idiot grifters who chase clout and cash.face_melter
- Make no mistake, Don is cancer and a cunt but Biden is no saviour, wonder, or wise man. He's a shit with a smile.face_melter
- I think you have to distinguish between serious criticism of Biden and other Democrats and the tendency of some on the left to go off into this fantasy landyuekit
- where the Democrats are worse than Trump. Greenwald is now a regular guest on Fox News, it would be crazy to think this doesn't influence you after a while.yuekit
- Just as an example, he has not to my knowledge criticized Trump a single time for trying to overturn the election. And even played into it to some extent.yuekit
- Yuekit nailed it. "I'm not a Trump supporter but..."cherub
