Barnett is charged with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority; violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds; and theft of public money, property, or records.

If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of one year in prison. Actual sentences for federal crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after taking into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Doesn't one year seem a bit light? Seems like most of these dudes have priors which may change sentencing, but overall, the charges and time detailed seem minimal to me, no?

    • I hate all of these f'ers but unless they have images of them breaking windows and/or vandalizing I think only a trespass charge will stickfooler
    • A year would be enough for me.monospaced
    • They'll get maybe 6 months, serve 2. Maybe not even that if fed sentences are less as it states in article - seems light to me.whatthefunk
