Rustoleum Glow in the dark spray paint.

    It totally sucks.

    .

My trusty can of Montana Glow in the Dark Spray Paint appears to have died - it has a large dent in and won't spray, no matter if there's a new nib nor how much I shake the can. I needed a replacement ASAP so went and bought some of the above on the way into work today and.. it just doesn't fucking glow. i've had tests sitting on a black light for twenty minutes and I can only see two tiny wee specks of glowing area.

    Fuckingfuck.

Now I'll be three days behind (I needed this thing done yesterday) and £40 lighter in my wallet (unless I can take this can of shite back for a refund).

    .

Also, punches for, I presume, Me: The only way the can of Montana broke as it has will be due to my having spacked out at a job gone wrong and frisbeed a sheet of MDF or something across the studio in a fit of rage and it's hard-twatted it. Idiot.

    • Try banging it on a concrete floor, hitting the base flat on the ground. Sometimes if the can has been lying around the chemicals become separate and often it'sPhanLo
    • almost like a varnish you're spraying.
For blocked cans the cap cleaner Montana do is really handy, it's saved me a few times.

    • Also with Montana, you really need to shake the cans, I think being designed for warmer climates the paint is fairly rubbish in our weather.PhanLo
    • You mean you put the cap cleaner in the actual top of the can? hmm. I have white spirit - would that do?Nairn
    • There's literally nothing coming out when I depress the cap (I've always called them nibs, I've no idea why)Nairn
    • Oh great, I just mixed isopropanol and white spirit and now I think I'm going to die.Nairn
    • Ok, got the shitoleum to work. It just needs a metric fuckton to do its thing. Ok for repeat spraying something, I guess. No good for stencil work. FUCKER.Nairn
    • Sometimes I put a fat cap on and spray the cleaner into the bit where you put the cap on, leave it for a bit then try to spray the paint out. Sometimes it comesPhanLo
    • out a bit lumpy and blocks the cap so flip it to the cap cleaner and that flushes out the gunk. It's a bit of rinse and repeat until the paint comes out.PhanLo
    • Don't pass out from the fumes. :-)PhanLo
    • Do you use Graffcity? They'll likely be cheaper than your local store.PhanLo
    • Also, I've got the German Montana, so it should be fine for London in December :)Nairn
    • No, but bookmarked! I buy from 'local' Art Stores or, if I need a load (not for a while now) there's some place near Brick Lane that does cheap cans.Nairn
    • Would a white undercoat help?scarabin
    • I considered that, but no - the glow effect itself is hella weak on the Rustoleum. Also, the stencil I was using was *very* finely detailed = tricky.Nairn
    • Serisously - the Montana GitD spray is like working with 200% strength moonlight, or something. The mix they use is SO rich.
The difference was light and day.
