When I hear about people going and doing certain things it actually grosses me out. Sharing air these days with just any smuck on the street is like having risky sex with strangers. When it all goes wrong, you die. But, with this you might take grandma out with you when you stop by to make a Christmas plate afterwards.

I'm in Dallaa Texas (more liberal than most places in the state) awaiting the birth of my nephew and quarantining. People in Texas are acting like nothing is going on. Nothing is closed. Mouth breathers are eating indoors, browsing mall isles, and slack jaw bargain bin rummaging like its 2018 out here. it's incredible.

    • It’ll sort itself out, only the good will remain hopefully_niko
    • I'm so sorry. That must be so frustrating to see and have to navigate, especially coming from a state where people are taking it seriously.monospaced
    • I feel this. Currently residing for a couple months in a city where people do not take it seriously (despite it being much worse here than in Brooklyn.)nb
    • California is all the way locked down. I drove out to Texas before the stay at home orders, though. but, its a stark contrast.shellie
    • I'm actually afraid to go to the grocery store. I haven't yet but really need to. there's a chance no makers will only be wearing chin diapers.shellie
    • I started requesting ppl not wearing a mask take the next elevator. At my home building, ppl automatically waited for the next elevator if someone was in it.shellie
    • Yes! Elevator etiquette is weird now. You wait in a line but it's hard to ask the people behind you not to get on.nb
    • I have stepped on an elevator only to be followed by an unmasked family of six and so I rolled my eyes and stepped offnb
    • Welcome to Dallas shellie!MondoMorphic
    • ...where personal freedom is still an option. If you're scared of covid, you can stay home, and if you're not, you don't have to.MondoMorphic
    • Welcome to Dallas... where you have to be willing to expose yourself to covid if you want to ride an elevator, as the rest of us are too selfish to wear a mask!nb
    • or, welcome to Texas... where your neighbor's right to ignore public health warnings outweighs your right to leave the house!nb
    • wow, the fear got to you. 1.) grandma is safe, it's the grandma that MIGHT give virus to others; 2.) mortality in your age bracket is close to zero, so...pr2
    • ...you might consider to stop listening to media one-liners and start reading science papers. (sorry, but there is no "nice" way to say it)pr2
    • re: the newborn, the last time i checked, in all of Europe there were exactly 13 (yes, 13) deaths in 0-10yo age bracket, so you might chill a bit.pr2
