    • ^ true that. I would add that China hasn't failed, as a matter of fact it's lifted more people out of poverty in a shorter period of time than anyone ever.zarkonite

    • Yes, it wins the capitalist game.
      My point was:

    • chinese had to shift away from communism/socialism to capitalism to lift everyone out of poverty.hotroddy
    • under socialism they were all starving which is why there is a culture of eating rats, bats and turtles today.hotroddy
    • a communist will always tell you that communism hasn't been achieved. A communist would rather starve than to admit communism failed.hotroddy
    • @hotroddy the eating dogs and cats actually came from feudalism and sieges on towns. In some places they ate their own babies.PhanLo
    • China's economy is government controlled, that does not sound like capitalism to me.palimpsest
    • Great Leap Forward caused the biggest famine in China's history. They had to resort to eating filthy animals.hotroddy
    • China's success today is because of the capitalists principals that have shaped their economy.hotroddy
    • Yes, the gov't controls everything but underlying policies are capitalists in nature.hotroddy
    • What I'm saying is according their ideology what they had in the USSR etc wasn't communism. They considered it socialism (which explains the name).yuekit
    • Communism is this utopian society they will achieve in the distant future once technology has eliminated scarcity and other problems (including government)yuekit
    • Of course you could certainly question where they are getting this idea from...a lot of things about Marxism sound like a religion to me.yuekit
    • What about eating squirrels?PhanLo

If China is failing at Communism (i.e.: Communism not achieved), in your opinion what further measures should it take to achieve Communism?

    • I don't think Marx said anything at all about agrarian societies adopting socialism. He said it would be a natural development from developed industrial nationsi_monk
