In all my years cooking I’ve never made garlic bread with cheese.

    Until tonight.

And I blew it. It tastes like shit. Not sure how I screwed it up exactly, but I’m afraid to google because I’m sure whatever mistake I made was so boneheaded that I’ll just want to punch myself in the face.

    Completely ruined the dinner.

    • ok, now I gotta know what you did.Nairn
    • wouldn't just eating plain bread + some garlic + some cheese would have the same effect?grafician
    • You’re think it would be easy enough Graf.ben_
    • Nairn, coles notes: too much garlic, too much butter, no herbs, should have toasted lightly before putting cheese on.ben_
    • It was just a soggy bitter garlicky mess. The garlic couldn’t cook at all to soften up. We’ll be tasting this for days. Wife’s shit talking to her friends now.ben_
    • Lightly butter the bread and toast, then RUB the now toasted bread with a garlic clove, add cheese/herbs and toast again to melt the cheese.ridg0026
    • May taste good if you skip the garlicSimonFFM
    • Did you rough chop garlic and put it on bread with butter? Eek.monospaced
    • my partner, who's not a bad cook, never lets garlic sit in butter/oil for long enough, so it never cooks through and disseminates its loveliness. drives me nutsNairn
    • day or two old bread's good to use for garlic bread. tbh, though - done right, I really like fresh raw garlic on bread, a la ridg0026's post.Nairn
    • in fact, i keep a jar of shitty indian garlic paste in the fridge solely for spreading over bread. my partner hates me. Also for the garlic.Nairn
    • lol nairn, you do make laugh these daysfadein11
