First M1 benchmarks are IN and yeah, it crushes everything.

Macbook Air 2020 with M1:
- single core - beats everything
- multi-core - only the top Xeons are a bit betterI expect the new Macbook Pro to crush everything at multi-core.
And this is only the first generation...Intel/AMD are done (I mean by the time they scramble to get something new this time next year Apple will already be at M2 and so on)
- If you see a speed comparison tool that would let me compare a 2017 3.8 Ghz iMac to a Mac mini, I would love to see those numbers.mg33
- ^there's this info https://browser.geek…********
- so similar for a Mac Mini********
- Guess I'll be passing on Macs going forward as bootcamp will not be supported :/SteveJobs
- oh and this M1 is actually a more of 4-core processor, as it has 4 "full" cores and 4 secondary, so yeah, impressive performance!********
- And it's not just speed, it's speed vs power consumption. Better battery life with these numbers is really something.evilpeacock
- Still gonna be at least 3 years before I switch - rosetta is not a realistic solution for audio software - and porting is not as simple as apple suggest...kingsteven
- also there's going to be a big redesign of laptops and iMacs in the next year then things will start to get interesting along with USB4 hardware, GPGPU etc.kingsteven
- ^No doubt is not the time to update rn, but this is a very promising start for this platform.********
