So I hated the wee old iPhone I was using because if I missed an update it would just there dumbly, all sleek dark monolith-like, not giving away its secrets. Well, my secrets. Not even scerets, just - shit I need to know.

Why the fuck didn't that thing have a wee LED saying "Hey, I've got something for you, Big Man"?

Now I'm on an Android and it does have this much-needed functionality.

Except, the LEDs are F U C K I N G B R I G H T so any time it has anything to tell me, it's not all coy like that slut iPhone it's total DICKPICK IN YOUR FACE, DICKPICK IN YOUR FACE, DICKPICK IN YOUR FACE, DICKPICK IN YOUR FACE.

    ffs. I miss old Nokias.

    • Samsung S8/S9 & maybe the new ones have a perfect LED. Color-coded by app, very chill notification thing. Custom setting allows it to be the only notifier.nb
    • That sounds lovely.
Mine's either red, green or blue and given I exist mostly in twilight, they're like supernovae going off.

    • There's no way to adjust brightness?zarkonite
    • A piece of masking tape might do. It'd be about as ghetto as all my other 'solutions'.Nairn
    • The Samsung one is sort of a gradient spot, and the gradients vary depending on app sending the notification. It's rad.nb
    • The gradient LED doesn't match any app's brand colors, which is unfortunate, but also would be kind of useless since so many are blue.nb
    • Highly recommend picking up a cheap S9 or S10. Wonderfully designed phones.nb
    • Did you never explore the Notifications settings in iOS? There is literally manual control for notifications on lock screen for every app.monospaced
