yeah so, this is not innovation anymore, this is improvisation.

No more Jobs, no more Ive, the "original plan" is no more.

After this year it's uncharted waters with Apple.

Sure, they still have 200 billions in the war chest, but everything we've seen so far was already planned and executed, but from now on...

And you guys know I'm right.

    • it'll be like the final seasons of game of thrones after the writers ran out of material from George RR Martin..._niko
    • After this year? Steve died 10 years ago ffs. Apple is more successful than ever. Launching their own silicone too.monospaced

    • they have enough cash on hand to buy innovation... they aren't exactly in trouble. as far as being a necessary creative tool as in decades past...jonny_quest_lives
    • that's an entirely different proposition... Unless they outright purchase Unreal Engine who has become their most potential problematic adversaryjonny_quest_lives
    • according to Google "Apple now has $193.82 billion in cash on hand"jonny_quest_lives
    • They go out and buy/acquire Unreal Engine and Red Camera they would have a strong foundation in Virtual Production and then could create a Pro Line of desktopsjonny_quest_lives
    • specific to that market segment just to have the bragging rights/retain their Think different Ethosjonny_quest_lives

    • Atari didn’t make money by selling video games, they made money by creating Chucky Cheese for constant revenue.instrmntl
    • In modern times that translates to app subscriptions and fees.instrmntl
    • The real money isn’t in the hardware.instrmntl
    • not saying it ever it was but a lot of the complaints about Apple no longer innovating seem to be from people in creative industries...jonny_quest_lives
    • who hold on to those powerful memories of that sart up chime on their first "pro" machine... then u hit a certain age and a hammer is just a hammer...jonny_quest_lives
    • and the only reason you fire up a mac is the font library you've acquired over the years because if you need to push pixels that can be done far cheaper on a PCjonny_quest_lives
    • oof @ buying Unreal. Apple saddled themseles with garbage AMD gpu's that don't even have RT yet. Their current line of PC's are already obsolete for 3D work.face_melter
    • holy fuck it's an endless echo chamber when it comes to Apple. Has been since the first Mac in the 80's.inteliboy
    • theyre a service platform like google now. hardware is just the vehicle to maintain the ecosystemtrooperbill
    • "they need a new CD" -to continue the analogy instead of that they released a "greatest hits" album and went on tour. As some have pointed out, creative typescherub
    • are gonna feel personally attacked over this perceived abandoning of the "think different" ethos. That's ok. Remember when alternative music went mainstream? EWcherub
    • I agree that I prefer the Jobs/Ives era when elegantly designed product breakthroughs were the norm.instrmntl
    • were they though?monospaced
    • no. people have always hated apple. always hated Steve Jobs. and always hated their new products.inteliboy
    • Fuck apple, slow as shitmoldero
    • No, nothing to do with "creative types" it's a general look - they need something new and big, a new market, or they will be like before Jobs second coming...grafician
