I'm no insect expert... but, it appears the creature died upon being exposed to his DNA. You can see it asphyxiate instantaneously. After it's soul was completely absorbed by Pence, the carcass slid off his head into his lectern. A real horror show. But hey, I'm not an expert on insects.
