Both of my wife's parents tested positive last week after having some symptoms of a cold. My kids, wife and I were all in contact with them over Labor Day weekend when they supposedly contracted. We tested ourselves and the kids and are all negative. We have no idea how they got it and we didn't, since we were together pretty much all weekend at their time of contraction.
After one day, my father in law already shook it off completely. My mother in law only has slight cold symptoms but feels about 95% normal. Thankfully they're doing well. There has to be strains of this that vary in intensity. It's just crazy that some can be completely taken down and others just sniffle and walk it off.
Side note: That test swab was worse than I expected. They pretty much tickle your brain with an 8" Q-tip for 10 seconds. My kids were not a fan of it either as my daughter cried in fear for about 5 minutes before doing it. Word of advice: Have your kids go first so they don't panic when watching you.
- Guys complaining about the swab test, you've obviously not been for a prostate exam. Go ask your wife about her last pap/smear test, see which she prefers.microkorg
- Don't think it's about different strains, it's about viral load.microkorg
- Clearly there are levels of things that are uncomfortable. I don't think I suggested that it was unbearable, just not what I expected.aslip
- Viral load, strains, individuals genetics, pre-existing health conditions, age, how much they slept last night, how much Vitamin D they have... all factors.shapesalad
- get a massive dose of the covid, an aggressive strain, with only 3 hours sleep, no exercise, overweight, no sunlight/low levels vitamin D, old... see how you goshapesalad
- It's important to keep healthy, with covid, hopefully people will learn why...quickly... those that don't. well.. darwin was right...shapesalad
- Don't forget, one virus unit enters a cell, hijacks the cell replication mechanism, makes copies of itself. approx 600k copies that burst out.shapesalad
- 600k copies of a virus from 1 cell, and people don't think it's about different strains? This isn't the apple iPhone production line, there're a lot of variantsshapesalad
- True. We've been dosing vitamins and are pretty active/healthy in general. Stay the course, I guess.aslip
- The deadliest of strains cannot survive because they kill their host. The strain that spreads without killing has a long life ahead of it.ShenanigansTV
- your <20% likely to get it from someone in your household, 27% from a spouse. 80% of cases are traced to <10% of symptomatic superspreaderskingsteven
- im curious to how many companies produce these test kits? and wether a doctor can even tell covid without a test kit. My understanding is no. a friends brother********
- a doc in SF swore to god he had it. but 4 tests show negative. still doesnt buy it. So question is who tests the tests?********
- also only really local buddy brother had it. his entire family helped him move the whole weekend right before. Only his brother. he was mildly sick for 4 days.********
- finished moving. friend in denver thoguht they had it in high time. docs said sounds like u do stay at home. better in a few days. no test. does that count?********
- its so all over the place. it makes no sense with the info given. i wonder if most people are chasing ghosts based on very few rushed test companies churning********
- kits that don;t work. in all this so far I only read chinese kits to germany were fucked up, but who produces ours? how do they work?********
