Last week, I signed up to be a creative mentor for a sort of video AMA set up by the head of strategy at one of the big network ad agencies, whereby they pair up strategic planners with creatives, and the strategy people ask the questions.

My session is this afternoon. I'm actually fucking terrified I'll have absolutely nothing of value to say to this kid that they didn't already learn in school or on the job, and I'll have both wasted her time and shown myself to be an absolute fraud in this business.

    Ugh.

    • relax - you know far more than you think.hans_glib
    • if in doubt, just flash your willy.Nairn
    • You undoubtedly know more than you think you do, and probably more than most planners about the real world. Good luck.ben_
    • Imposter Syndrome is real. You’ll be great, though. When it doubt, remember that the fallback answer to every question is “Well, it depends.”

    • I’ve felt like a fraud every time I’ve spoken in public or as a consultant. And every single time I’m like “oh shit that was easy, I’m better than I think”

    • Thanks, lads.
Well, in the end, it went well. She messaged the guy who organised it that the talk 'made her day' on LinkedIn.

    • So you did flash her your willy?Nairn
    • See we told you

    • @Nairn, no, no willy-flashing.
But I'd be an utter, utter liar of the first order if I said she wasn't cute.

    • In any case, I might as well humble-brag the shit out of this on LinkedIn. 'So honoured to have had the opportunity to ...' yadda yadda blah blah blah.Continuity
