Was on my first proper jobsite this week since lockdown started, painting an outdoor courtyard with a mate, it's an outdoor space for new students starting next week in town.
Some joiners built the space before us and there was some crossover, but the space is pretty open and mostly empty. It's been interesting coming into the city centre everyday, getting to see how different businesses are dealing with mask wearing, some places don't care, 2 of the little cafes we went for lunch didn't seem to be bothered. Tescos had clear signage and required masks, but mostly it's all over the place.
Driving back tonight I saw a nightclub with freshers outside, the club looked full, it's a basement one with low ceilings, the kind you end up in when completely hammered and catch the flu at the best of times. I think it's maybe classed as a bar so that's how they get round it being open.
Was good to be out working properly, physically painting, it almost felt normal, though the company I used to get 90% of my work from went into liquidation last week nationwide, being an events company they just couldn't see a return for a long time and the warehouses were sitting unused for months.
Walking around town it looks like a lot of bars won't open their doors again, some shops look like they'd never opened at all in 6 months. If there's another lockdown more will go too.
Will grab proper photos of the space tomorrow.
